No more pacifier!!!

January 29th, 2008

Zac has gotten rid of the paci. There really was no other choice seeing as how he started chewing through the latex!!
SO, as of November 25th he is officially off the paci! It seems like a distant memory now but I forgot to post about it while we were in the midst of that "nightmare."
We had a rough month of December with no paci, then he started flipping out of his crib so we had to put up his big boy bed AND he got his first ear infection. The poor boy was bombarded with disturbances but we made it through and he is now sleeping just fine without the paci. He still won't take his naps which I really wish would change, but he is sleeping from about 12 hours at night so that is ok I suppose.

Mom, I pooped a snake!!

January 22nd, 2008

This is pretty funny so I HAD to share!!

Zac was acting like he had to poop so I put him on the toilet and told him to try and go. Well, he started to go ( not the first time) and this time as each little droplet fell into the water he would say, “buh bye poop”…. and THEN… he looked down in there and said.. “snake!” LOL!!!! Sure enough he had a “snake” in there. So THEN…. the  next drop came and “broke” his snake and he said simply, “buh bye snake.”

My little man is growing up so fast and just taking off these days!!

Mom’s 30th Birthday

January 19th, 2008

We had a big celebration today at the house for my 30th birthday. It was a mexican fiesta theme with some delicious authentic mexican food catered by La Napolera. Zac enjoyed himself. I made a special separate cake for him to enjoy and he loved licking the frosting and the batter. He also loved playing with all the balloons after cleanup!

We got together and Ashley's house this evening so the kids could exchange their valentine treats. Zac enjoyed himself, as usual. :)

WORDS WORDS WORDS!!

January 9th, 2008

MY BABY (well, ok, BIG BOY) IS TALKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's been well over a week now but I just cannot beLIEVE how he's just taken off and EXPLODED!! He certainly isn't talking two word sentences but he is saying SO MUCH! He now just "gets it"… he gets that everything has a name and is even naming SO MANY objects and if he doesnt know its name, he makes up his own sound/name. LOL His words are not clear or pronounced perfectly but he's just beginning so I'm sure that will come.

I have a few quick little stories to tell you. This isn't the same child, i swear!!!

Two days ago, I was out front with him and he went over to the mailbox and was hitting it and pointing to it making his noise that he always does when he wants me to tell him what something is. So I said, "That's a mailbox…. MAIL BOX." I was not expecting him to understand in the least but I still told him. He stood there for a bit, then touched it and said "MAAA BAW" ! I was so excited I said, "YES! Yes that's a MAILBOX, good job!!!" He was so happy, he started clapping and getting all worked up and said it again. So I was putting away xmas lights and he came running to me going "Mama, mama" (he has NEVER DONE THIS….) he grabbed my finger and pulled me back to the mailbox and wanted me to touch it, then he said it again… "Maa baw!"

YESTERDAY he was pointing to this DVD case that he likes to look at by "So Smart" of his letter DVD. He was pointing to something on there and saying "TuhTah… TuhTah"… I went over to see what he was saying/looking at and he was pointing at the TURTLE on this tiny index card that was next to the letter "T." Later, gramma was here so I asked him to show her and pointed to the card and said, "What is that?" He said, "T!" LOL, he was right though because there was a "T" on there, too.

He was in my room today and saw a Dora doll that I have for ebay. He looked at it and said, "ORA!" He doesnt even watch Dora!!!! LOL He sees her rarely on tv at a friends' house and i'm sure i've told him who she was in the past but that floored me as well!

He is really really naming so much. I get out his flashcards and he names quite a bit of the objects. Today was his first visit with the psych. since before the holidays. She got out an animal puzzle and he was just blowing through it. He picked up the elephant and said "Ehh Ahh" (elephant) and then made the elephant noise and put it back in its right spot. Then he picked up the lion and said "yaaan" and growled like a lion and put it back in its spot, and so on. He picked up the Rino and the psych said to me, "Lets see if he knows what THAT is. LoL" He said, "Raaao" and she was shocked!

He's pretend feeding his toys on command now (if i ask him to give so and so a bite,) he's pointing to everything and sayign what it is (or trying.) "Cookie" was "ooheee" last week and now its "cuhkee."

He tried to climb my cupboard today and was saying "Eeeee… EEEEE" and pointing at the bananas (he wanted to "EAT").

For those who dont know, this child has been completely non verbal up until about two months ago (then said a few things) and not even pointing until one month ago. This is just so huge and he is SO proud of himself, you can tell!!

Icky Fun!

January 2nd, 2008

If you haven't tried mixing cornstarch with water you should, it's quite interesting. It turns into this wet looking goop that is actually hard to the touch until you release it.
It's hard to explain but Zac had a blast with it today, he sat there for a half an hour playing in this stuff!

Evaluation today…

January 2nd, 2008

Zac had his ESE Psychological evaluation today for the school system.
It was amazing after sitting down and realizing how far he's come in such a short time!
I answered yes to a lot of questions that just three months ago were no.

The best part was when she asked me if he knew his letters, I said yes.
She got out a flip book and turned to a page of jumbled letters and asked him to show her "X" and he pointed right to it. THEN he proceeded to point to the "B" and said, "Beee!" Then he pointed to "E" and said, "E!" Then pointed to "D" and said, "Deeee." LOL!
She was like, "ok then!"

She said, "I hear you're a great stacker… can you stack these blocks?" Of course he did it in a flash. Anyway, I was proud to see what progress he's made since the last time we had an eval like that. He still has to go for SLP and OT evals in two weeks.
